Cool Book: Trees of Life: A Visual History of Evolution

As someone who spends a good part of her life staring at evolutionary trees, Theodore W. Pietsch’s new book Trees of Life: A Visual History of Evolution caught my eye when I saw it reviewed on the website Brain Pickings. As someone who lives in New York City on a graduate student’s salary, however, I think I’ll content myself now with the preview pages available on its Google Books entry.

It’s worth a minute of your time to at least scroll though the images and get a sense for how our depictions of evolution have… evolved. Here’s one on the general evolution of rodents by New York’s own William King George in 1946:
